Philanthropic Events

One of the things we take pride in APX is giving back to the community. We do workshops for boy scouts to help them achieve their merit badges. We are also in charge of recycling center at campu, which also helps us in the long run.

The Numisius Colony got in contact with the Boy

Scouts of America Troop #319 to create a series of workshops/clinics.

These workshops were put together in order

to help each scout pursue a collective of nine possible

merit badges, which focus in architecture and design. According

to the Boy Scouts Handbook these activities are

“a series of surmountable obstacles and steps in overcoming

them through the advancement method. The Boy Scout

plans his advancement and progresses at his own pace as

he meets each challenge. The Boy Scout is rewarded for

each achievement, which helps him gain self-confidence.

The steps in the advancement system help a Boy Scout

grow in self-reliance and in the ability to help others.”

As a Colony, we wanted to guide and mentor the scouts

into this incredible goal to encourage design at an early

age. Numisius pulled together as a group to create a program

for creative and fun learning that included all the materials

required for each scout to earn badges. The badges

the Colony focused on were:

• Architecture

• Art

• Drafting

• Graphic Arts

• Home Repairs

• Landscape Architecture

• Metalwork

• Model Design and Building

• Surveying

After our workshop, the scout leader and parents were impressed at

our efforts to help these scouts reach their merit badges,

and they are extremely excited to the rest of our workshops.

The scout leader and the scouts were thankful of

such an amazing opportunity since these badges are not

always available in their field. After such recognition and

success, we have taken into consideration expanding and

offering this workshops to other troops.
